Postpartum Doula Support in Cheshire & Wirral
The early weeks after birth can be tender, beautiful and overwhelming. Often all at once.
Postpartum doula support is about caring for you as much as your baby. It gives you space to recover, process, rest and adjust, without feeling like you have to hold everything together alone.
I offer calm, practical and emotional support in your own home so you can find your feet with confidence.
What postpartum support actually looks like
Every family is different, but support could include:
Holding your baby so you can rest or shower
Feeding support, whether breast, bottle or combination
Gentle newborn care guidance
Preparing simple food or helping with light household tasks
Supporting older siblings during the transition
Talking through your birth experience
Creating rhythm and routine that works for your family
There is no judgement here. Only support.
“Jemma was fantastic, she was encouraging, reassuring and supportive. I asked her to be our birth and post-natal doula. She was excellent during the birth, she knew what and when to offer help subtly, her touch was such a relief, and her words were the ones I needed to hear at tricky times like transition. We were blessed with a great birth experience. Jemma also came to support us in the early newborn weeks, and her "Closing the bones" session was amazing, highly recommended!”
Who is this for?
Postpartum support is especially valuable if you:
Have limited local family support
Are recovering from a challenging birth
Are navigating feeding challenges
Have a partner returning to work early
Simply want to feel less alone in the early weeks
Emotional and feeding support
The fourth trimester is not just physical recovery. It is an identity shift, hormonal change and nervous system recalibration, all happening while you are learning all about your new baby.
You might feel joyful and tearful in the same hour. You might question yourself. You might need reassurance more than advice.
My role is to meet you exactly where you are. To sit with you in those moments, help you feel steady, and remind you that you are more capable than you think.
Feeding is often part of that emotional landscape. If it feels straightforward, I quietly support your confidence. If it feels difficult, we work through it with patience and clarity. If your plans change, I stay beside you without judgement.
You deserve support that adapts to you, not expectations you have to live up to.
How sessions work
Postpartum support is offered in daytime blocks, usually three hours at a time. This allows enough space for meaningful help rather than feeling rushed.
Sessions typically take place on weekday mornings or early afternoons, when support is often most needed. We can schedule visits in advance before your baby arrives, or arrange them once you are home and have a clearer sense of what you need.
Some families book a handful of sessions for the first couple of weeks. Others prefer regular weekly support across the first two or three months. There is no fixed formula. We can shape a plan that fits your recovery, feeding journey, family rhythms and budget.
How to book
Send me your due date and a little about what you feel you might need. We can arrange sessions in advance or organise support once your baby arrives.
“Jemma provided breastfeeding support and general advice around all things baby. Her post birth debrief was exactly what I needed to process everything and I feel that it really enabled me to appreciate what my body had been through to get my baby here safely. Jemma has continued to support me, throughout my parenting journey, with guidance and advice and I am forever grateful to her for enabling us to have the most positive and special experience. I would wholeheartedly recommend Jemma and all aspects of doula support. I wouldn’t want to do birth without her should I ever be blessed to have a child again in the future. She is the best!”
